In his tireless race to the legend - some say that also to the honorific title of best player in history - Novak Djokovic continues destroying records in his path.

In these two weeks of Indian Wells are several which he has broken, starting with some of the own tournament: more titles (5) and best percentage of victories (88,68%). He shares with Roger Federer the number of finals (6) and more consecutive titles and finals (3 in each case) and with Lleyton Hewitt, the shortest final in number of games, matching the 14 with which the "aussie" beat Guga Kuerten in 2003. In this edition of 2016 he has reached his 17th consecutive victory, only one behind Federer, leaving this mark very accessible for next year. Indian Wells record table

The Serbian is also rewriting the record book of the Masters 1000 at full speed. With his victory in the Californian desert he ties the 27 titles in this category owned by Rafael Nadal. The Serbian raises to 10 the record of consecutive finals; from Paris 2014 he has not missed the appointment of the last match. Figure that it rises to 11, since Shanghai 2014, if we refer to the semifinals round. Finally, a more trivial data, with the 6-0 in the second set to Milos Raonic he increases the number of "bagels" in Masters 1000 to 34, six more that Nadal has been able to score to his rivals. It has also been published that Djokovic has overtaken Bjorn Borg in total winning percentage. And indeed, according to the ATP, that is right since the Swede has an official balance of 609 victories and 107 defeats. The number one in the world, after Indian Wells, is with 708 victories and 147 defeats, 82,81% exceeding the 82,74% of Borg.

However, the fact is that the ATP just recognizes a few games of Borg in Davis Cup, a competition in which the Swede has a baggage of 37-3. The omission is unjustifiable since ATP has in mind the Davis Cup matches, and not only the World Group, but also the Groups I and II.

Including his matches in the Davis, Borg has a balance of 639 and 130, which is equivalent to 83,09%, some tenths higher than Djokovic´s percentage. Wins highest % Open Era

Djokovic´s numbers in the season are steadily rising; Indian Wells is already his third title, his percentage of victories in the season - 22 victories and one defeat, 95.65% - is the best of the circuit, his record with the top-10 increases to 7-0, series that extends to 38-5 if the results of last season are included and he outstandingly leads the statistics of return points. His performance at Indian Wells has been a copy of his last tournaments, setting his level to the requirement of the rival, clearly ascending, that was from the amazing 2-6  at the hands of Bjorn Fratangelo in the first match to the overwhelming 6-0 to Raonic which he closed the tournament. As usual, doubts about Serbian - Simon, Kukushkin, Fratangelo or Kohlschreiber - are nothing when the decisive game begins.

The most attractive duel was, without doubt, the 48th edition of Djokovic-Nadal. And it was not just because these two players beat again the record of most rivalries in the Era Open, but because the match had, especially in the first set, scent to classic. A reinforced Nadal, after saving a match which he had lost against Alexander Zverev – the German will not forget easily the volley he crashed against the net in match ball- and the victory over Kei Nishikori in a great quarterfinal - his first victory of the season facing a top-10 –, he was at one point to score the first set. Speculate with what would have happened if Rafa scores that first set is useless. The important thing is that his game was solid and his forehand, finally, worked as it used to. A very positive tournament for Nadal who by the way, not to be outdone, also broke his own record of semifinals in Masters 1000, rising to 58 the number of presences in this round, two over Federer. Raonic was the other main protagonist in the Californian desert. The Canadian, being intractable with the service, reached his third final in a Masters 1000 to fail just as he did with Nadal in Canada 2013 and Djokovic in Paris 2014. The Serbian showed no mercy to Raonic, who was somewhat imprecise, leaving him with just the 10% of points won with the second service. Raonic leaves 0-6 the scoreboard of his duels against Djokovic. The same score he has before the number one in the world, two defeats against Nadal and four with Djokovic. And it is that some borders are really difficult to cross, even for high level players. Raonic matches vs. #1

David Goffin also stood out in California. The Belgian, despite being the player with more break points faced in the tournament (48), he went through the semi-finals after winning Stan Wawrinka - his second victory against a top 10 - and Marin Cilic. Before Raonic he presented battle scoring the second set, but he could not finally overcome the power of the Canadian service. Goffin is on the way to becoming a national legend and after the final of the Davis last year, he is now the first Belgian to reach the semifinals of a Masters 1000 after the one achieved by Christophe Rochus in Hamburg 2005. But if we talk about a powerful service, we must mention John Isner. The American lead again at Indian Wells the aces statistics and the percentage of total points won with the first and second service. Classifications which he dominates also prominently in season: 342 aces, 95 more than Gilles Muller who has played 4 matches more than the American, a wild average of more than 26 aces per match. He has only given 8 breaks during the season and at Indian Wells, where he only suffered one, he lost before Nishikori in round 16 in two tie-breaks and the Japanese did not have any chance of break. This week Miami begins with the presence of Ferrer and Federer, absent both at Indian Wells. We will see if there is someone able to stop Djokovic, the records breaker, in his unstoppable march.
